the prepper Network

STAY PREPARED. STAY READY. STAY CONNECTED.

The Radio Prepper Network is made up of a growing collection of like-minded preparedness groups — each with a shared goal: building skills, knowledge, and reliable communication when it matters most.

Together, these groups form The Prepper Network — a connected hub for anyone who wants to become more self-reliant, resilient, and ready for anything.

WHAT CONNECTS US?

The Radio Prepper Network is the communications backbone that links all branches of The Prepper Network.

When the grid goes down and the internet or mobile networks fail, radio still works — it’s the one tool that can keep communities connected when everything else falls silent.

RPN was created to bring together preppers, radio enthusiasts, and everyday people who understand the importance of reliable, off-grid communication. Using simple, licence-free radios such as PMR446 and CB, members can stay in touch, share updates, and coordinate when it matters most, every member get a unique RPN callsign that they can use when communicating via radio.

Each of our network’s groups — from general preparedness to medical and bushcraft — can use RPN to pass information, request help, or simply maintain contact across the UK and beyond.

It’s what binds the network together and ensures no one is ever completely cut off.

This is a community-driven, volunteer-run network, not an official emergency service.

You don’t need a licence or experience to take part — just a radio and the willingness to listen, learn, and connect.

So, whether you’re running a base station, monitoring from home, or out in the field, Radio Prepper Network helps keep the signal strong between every member of the Prepper Network.

⚙️ A Few Quick Notes

We’re only just getting started, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear anyone the first time you call out — especially on PMR, which has limited range.

Keep trying, and as the network grows you’ll be much more likely to have another RPN member within range.

The best way to find who’s near you is to check our RPN Map on the website — it shows active members and their callsign areas.

Once you do make contact, share it in the Facebook group!

It helps everyone see who’s connecting and builds momentum for the next nets.

“When all else fails, radio connects us.”

Let’s get the airwaves active — one contact at a time 🇬🇧

RPN MEMBERS

This Map is a still image that gets updated weekly with new members, If you would like to see which RPN members are closest to you so you can try to put a call out over PMR or CB then click the button below and it will take you to the up to date map.

Do not yet have a Radio and want to get started?

🔊 Step 1: Join Our Zello Channel

If you’ve never used a radio before, start here.

Zello is a free app that turns your phone into a push-to-talk device (not a radio as it uses internet).

You can listen, chat, and join our weekly net on zello — a perfect way to learn radio etiquette and meet other members before buying any equipment.
Click the link below download the app if you are having troubles feel free to ask admin to help you get set up.

📻 Step 2: Try a Simple Radio

Once you’re comfortable, we recommend starting with something small and affordable — the Baofeng UV-5R.

It’s technically a ham radio, but it can be programmed to use PMR446 frequencies, which are licence-free and fully legal in the UK ansd EU. This is great because you can communicate on PMR446 frequencies and learn by monitoring ham frequencies (you must NOT communicate on anything else apart from the PMR446 frequencies unless you have a licience).

You’ll only need to program the PMR channels (we’ll help you do that), and you’ll be able to talk with other members locally.
Below is a link to radios and gear like the Baofeng UV 5R and more they are affiliate links so by purchasing you will be supporting the network.

⚙️ PMR OR CB — What’s the Difference?

PMR446 → small handheld walkie-talkies (446 MHz) for local, short-range communication.

CB Radio → larger radios (27 MHz) that offer longer range — ideal for vehicles or home base stations.

Most beginners start with PMR, then expand to CB as their setup grows.

✅ You don’t need any licence.

✅ You don’t need expensive gear.

✅ You just need curiosity and a bit of practice.

Welcome to the network — when all else fails, radio connects us.

     SUPPORT THE PREPPER NETWORK

The Prepper Network is a community-run project built by ordinary people who believe in self-reliance, communication, and resilience.

Everything you see here — from the bulletins and maps to the nets and guides — is kept running by volunteers who simply care about keeping people connected when it matters most.

If you believe in what we’re doing and want to play an active role, we’d love to hear from you.

Whether you can help with transmissions, training, research, or simply spreading the word — every contribution makes a difference.

If you’d like to help sustain the network, you can also make a small donation to support ongoing time and effort that gets put into the project to some of the small costs.

Every little bit helps to keep the signal strong and will allow us to grow stronger and better.
